represented unto Us by the most Reverend Father in God John Bird
by Divine Providence Lord Archbishop of Canterbury Primate of All England and Metropolitan that the Clergy and Laity of the Communion of the United Church of England
and Ireland resident
within Our Colony of Hong Kong and
its Dependencies; and at Canton, Amoy, Foochow, Ningpo,
and
Shanghai and
other places in the Empire of China owing
to the remoteness of our said Island and
its Dependencies, and of the other places
aforesaid
